Spiny Oyster is made from colorful shells of bivalve mollusks. The shells are known for vibrant colors, reds-purple-yellow-oranges. These are not true oysters but more closely related to scallops. Artisians use the shells, along with pieces of turquoise. It is then bonded together using a resin, shaped, formed and placed in silver or gold settings. Some artisians use gold, silver and other metals giving the appearance of "viening."
